Celebrating 30 Years of Mind Masters: Looking Back to Look Ahead

WOW have things changed in 30 years! Yet even with the uncertainties that the COVID virus has produced, Mind Masters and our members have held together to cheer each other on to make changes needed to stay afloat.

Some members wanted to know if we were going to celebrate like we did for our 25th, but my decision was to step back and plan it at the beginning of 2022. I needed this time to look at what we have learned in order to look beyond just staying afloat.

So what has made the difference for Mind Masters Read More

In the Beginning was the Dream…

I love telling the story of an entrepreneur in Des Moines, Iowa who had a dream.  He had a successful welding business and he liked to tinker.  In 1903 to be able to carry supplies and deliver machine parts to his customers, George built an engine for a buckboard to make it easier to carry those parts.  He later built another engine for a carriage to take his family out in.  Today George’s “truck” sits in the back field of an Iowa farm, rusted and rotted.  Maybe his dream was to sell his idea, maybe it was only to create Read More

The Power of Business and Self Mastery

As I listened to a talk last week the word Mastery captured my attention. As business owners we know that strategy is vital for success.  It charts the course and sets the direction.  But, we also know that so often our goals never take off because they are drowned by all of the other competing interests.

To build a solid reputation with yourself and others, to earn more money, and to ensure business success requires the enforcement and mastery of self-discipline, self-control and self-awareness.

Create that power with these ideas:

  1. Mastery takes focus and how you approach your work is

Commitment Counts!

Commitment is the Mind Masters theme for this year.  This can be the year of your dreams, the year of great accomplishment, the year you realize and utilize your untapped potential; the year you achieve long sought after goals in all areas of your life. This year will be exciting and rewarding only if you make it so.  You ask how can I determine to make it such a year?  The year will hold accomplishment, realization and achievement only if you commit to making it happen; only if you enter and live each day with the commitment to your goals.Read More

Do You Have a Personal User’s Guide?

Guest Article By: Karl Bimshas

If you did not come with a user’s guide, write one.

You might think working with you is a dream. You are in your head all day, so, you know your intentions and beliefs better than anyone else, and I am sure they are all sound and reasonable. The problem is; no one else is in there with you. Even your closest allies, those who know you inside and out, are sometimes sideswiped by your actions.

Why?

Because you are not nearly as clear as you think you are. You did not come with a … Read More

The Slight Edge

This can be the year of your dreams, the year of great accomplishment, the year you realize and utilize your untapped potential; the year you achieve long sought after goals in all areas of your life. This year will be exciting and rewarding only if you make it so.  You ask how can I determine to make it such a year?  The year will hold accomplishment, realization and achievement only if you expect it to happen; only if you enter and live each day with an understanding of the slight edge. Let me explain.

For ten years, I worked with Read More

5 Ways to Stay On Top Of Your “Game”

5 Ways to Stay On Top Of Your “Game”With first quarter finished, I wanted to make sure all of my members were ready and willing to push on with the same enthusiasm they came out of the January Summit with. Sometimes more of the same just doesn’t motivate us to keep going. Maybe the plan was too aggressive, maybe there were a few curves in the road. Sometimes there was just more to do than one could possibly do.

I offer you the same ideas I challenged them with.

  1. Ask yourself thought provoking questions. What questions are you asking?  What master questions are you using to guide

What’s it Going to Take?

dream bigAs we prepare for the New Year, I challenged my Mind Master members to either add to their Dream List or begin one. Each step in our growth, whether business or life requires choices. If you don’t have a Dream List how can you begin to set goals and stay focused? I remember a client years ago, he owned a Real Estate business and chose to work with me because the previous year he had reached his goal by mid-year and did not achieve anything else the rest of the year. He neither had a dream list or even a … Read More

How to Build Confidence

confidenceWorking with entrepreneurs and small business owners I hear a lot of resistance to sales. Or more specifically that they are sales men/women. In order to be successful in sales, (since we all are essentially in sales) we must approach every selling situation with the right attitude. But what is the “right” attitude? An attitude is a mental disposition toward events, people, or situations that controls behavior.

Being consciously aware of your attitudes can prepare you in advance of any need. And that means you have a choice or as Viktor Frankl puts it, “Everything can be taken from a Read More

Trust Changes Everything

speed-of-trustHaving just finished the book, The Speed of Trust – The One thing that Changes Everything, by Steven M. R. Covey, I presented some of the ideas to our Mind Masters Groups as we build our “brand” by building trust.

People do business with people they like.  So business is based on relationships.  The relationship matters as much as the service – maybe even more.  When people like you, they trust you and want to work with you.

What we are talking about here is that customers buy from people not corporations.  So to succeed you need to promote yourself Read More
