Mary was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. She attended Kenyon College in Gambier Ohio and Boston University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. Mary will celebrate 16 years with New York Life in April 2013 and 18 years in the industry. Since contracting with New York Life she has been a consistent Council Qualifier and has reached MDRT membership. In 2009 she was awarded Agent of the Year by the San Diego General Office. In addition, she has received Annuity Champion, Annuity Super Champion, and Annuity Elite Circle awards from the company. She has also won Mutual Fund Leader, Comeback of the Year, among other awards. Mary has been certified with her LUTCF, CLTC and CLU. She is currently studying for her CFP and ChFC designations. Janice Sherlock Receives Community Service Award
The College Area Business Improvement District (BID) awarded the R. J. Benoit Community Service Award to Janice Sherlock in recognition of her commitment to the BID and her consistent volunteer efforts. The BID only gives this award for service by a board member who has contributed as an advocate and ambassador in showing support for the organization in the community. Janice’s initial involvement with the BID came in 2009 on behalf of one of her local clients. She has been on the board since April of 2010 and serves on both the BOO! Parade committee and the Marketing committee. Her company, The J Sherlock Group, marketing and public relations, is located in the College Area and she makes her home on one of the nearby canyons. Establishing professional relationships, creating positive business alliances and referrals are some of the strategies Janice has adopted for growing her business. She is a member of the Greater San Diego Business Association (GSDBA) and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. She is a strong believer in the opportunities provided by networking and attends the GSDBA Tuesday morning Business Networking Group (BNG) in University Heights and is an active member of the Marketing Professional Development Group. Since February of 2010, she has been fortunate to devote her early Saturday mornings to education, where she meets with a number of focused business owners at Mind Masters and together they challenge, motivate and encourage each other to become more successful.
